COSMEA

by Mary Weaver

“Different gauges offer options for a lighter-weight breezy shawl in fingering weight yarn, or a larger, cozy lap blanket in worsted weight.”

– Mary Weaver

Product description

"The overarching design for this shawl was originally dreamt up as a capelet for my wedding. I spent so much time swatching and scheming about which stitch patterns would go together best to create the look I wanted, I had to find a more “everyday” way to showcase them!" — designer, Mary Weaver

    CONSTRUCTION

    • The shawl is worked in the round from the center out. It uses traditional Pi Shawl construction (Elizabeth Zimmermann’s method) and is shaped through the use of concentric rings of increases. A knitted-on edging is worked back and forth and attached to the live stitches around the shawl circumference at the end of every RS row to finish the shawl (in place of a traditional bind off).
    • The two versions are worked from the same instructions; differing gauges create the difference in sizes.
