  Grettir is inspired by time spent in Iceland amidst its glacial horizons and bustling city lights. The result: a modern take on traditional yoked pullovers, with shaped and classic silhouettes and options for either a crew neck or a turtleneck to best suit your comfort and style.
  
  While visiting the northern coast of the country, designer Jared Flood met a storyteller who told him the amazing saga of Grettir — the longest surviving outlaw in Icelandic history. Jared found himself particularly intrigued by the final chapter in the story: Grettir’s demise on the rocky cliffs of Drangey, a fortress-like stone island off the coast. This imposing site is visible from the shoreline and played directly into the angles and organic stranding of this sweater’s colorwork yoke.

• Pattern specs

  CONSTRUCTION

  • Garment is worked in the round, without seams, from the bottom up. After completion of body (to underarm) and sleeves, all three pieces are united onto a single circular needle and yoke is worked in the round to collar.
  • Two silhouettes are provided: a Shaped version (Version I) with optional waist shaping and slightly shorter arms and torso lengths, and a Classic version (Version II) with a slimmer fit through the torso than the chest and longer arms and torso lengths.
  • Two neck treatment options are provided: a turtleneck collar and a rolled crewneck collar. Note that working the turtleneck on the Classic version will require additional yardage of MC.

  The pattern has been updated for more inclusive sizing and with new imagery. The original sizes for women and men have now been updated for two silhouettes, Shaped and Classic (see “Pattern Specs” above for descriptions of each) and gendered language has been removed from the pattern. Colorwork charts have been added to accommodate the added sizes. The two neck treatments, crewneck and turtleneck, are now optional for either silhouette. Waist shaping is now optional for the Shaped silhouette.
