Product description

"This sweet hat pattern features a delicate, geometric stitch worked in two colors that reminds me of little kites. The small bi-color diamonds are formed using a unique ‘dip’ stitch maneuver that creates a subtly textured fabric with tiny eyelets that keep the fabric breathable and light.

The hat can be worked in child or adult size, and styled as a standard beanie or blocked over a round form (like a salad plate) for a beret variation. The star-shaped crown design integrates seamlessly into the Kitelines stitch pattern for a sophisticated finish, regardless of your chosen variation.

For best results, choose one darker and one lighter color to maximize the effect of the stitch pattern. (This is a fun stitch pattern for color exploration: try using 3, 4, or more colors to stretch your creativity!)" — designer, Jared Flood

    CONSTRUCTION

    • The hat is worked circularly from the bottom up.
    • This pattern includes options for either a beanie or a beret version. The beanie version starts with a greater stitch count for the ribbed brim than the beret. The beret version will require a form (plate) for blocking to achieve the desired shape.
    • High-contrast values will make the most of the graphic effect of this stitch pattern. If you’re having trouble selecting color, we recommend choosing a dark color for C1 and a light color for C2.
