Pattern Specs
CONSTRUCTION
- Body is cast on circularly and a rolled hem is worked on smaller needle, then the remainder of body is worked in garter stitch on larger needle.
- Hem is shaped with Short Rows: Wrap & Turn Method. Body is worked in the round with increases to shape the waist.
At the underarm, the front and back are split to work the remainder of the yoke flat, separately from underarm to shoulder. Stitches for front are placed on waste yarn or stitch holder and back piece is worked back and forth. - Upper back is continued with either decreases, increases, or a combination of both, depending on the size, to shape the armhole.
- After back shoulder slopes have begun being shaped, a small amount of back neck shaping will be worked, using two separate balls of yarn.
- Upon completion of the back, front stitches are returned to needles and worked back and forth, mirroring armhole shaping as for back.
- When the base of the neck opening is reached, stitches are bound off at the center front to begin the neckline. Each side of the neck is shaped with decreases. A new ball of yarn is joined to work the remainder of the front with separate balls of yarn. At the same time, the front shoulders are shaped with a Sloped Bind Off.
- The Front and Back are joined by sewing two short shoulder seams.
- The sleeves are picked up around each armhole and worked circularly in garter stitch to the cuff. If flared sleeve is worked, the sleeve will be shaped with increases. Straight sleeve is worked without shaping. Sleeve is finished with a rolled cuff worked in stockinette stitch on a smaller needle.
- The neckband is picked up and worked circularly in stockinette stitch to form a rolled edge.
