Modern Tabard
Pattern Specs
CONSTRUCTION
- A build-your-own pattern, the sleeveless Modern Tabard offers multiple variations for hem length and collar treatment. Hem length options include Vest, Midi, and Maxi. The Vest has a short notched hem; the Midi and Maxi variations have a longer vented hem. All hems are worked in 1x1 Ribbing. Collar options are a Crew Neck, a Mock Neck, or a Turtleneck. Collars can be worked in 1x1 Ribbing, 2x2 Ribbing, Beaded Rib, Garter, or Stockinette Stitch.
- All versions are worked from the bottom up and begin with a hem that is worked flat and in pieces before being joined to work the body in the round. The Vest’s hem and lower body are worked straight. The Midi and Maxi have vented hems that flare out and can be mixed together to create a hi-lo effect. The upper front and back are worked separately and flat; 1x1 Ribbing continues up the side and finishes the armhole openings. Shoulders are shaped with a Sloped Bind Off and seamed. Stitches are picked up for the collar which is worked circularly.
- All length variations have a subtle A-line silhouette.
