  A tactile melange of worsted-spun Arbor and woolen-spun Loft, the Tallera scarf is delightfully springy and tremendously touchable. Wide bands of compressible garter stitch are punctuated by angular accents of half Fisherman’s Rib — all constructed through simple short rows. Whether wrapped double around the neck for a tucked-in cowl look or worn long as a scarf, Loft’s natural airiness keeps the weight light and prevents any sense of feeling overwhelmed by Tallera’s voluminous fabric.

  CONSTRUCTION

  • The scarf is worked flat from end to end.
  • The scarf is composed of wedges of garter stitch worked in Loft with different directions, achieved using Short Rows: Wrap & Turn Method.
  • The wedges in Loft are divided with strips worked in Arbor.

  18 January 2021: Version 1.2

  On page 5, the second Construction Note has been updated to remind knitters to maintain an even tension when working the short row wraps in order for the wraps to nicely hide among the garter stitch fabric.

  On page 8, for Section 4, Short Row 5 has been updated to note that it is worked on a RS, not WS, row.

  Also on page 8, the instruction following Short Row 5 has been updated to clarify the number of rows to work before working Short Row 6: "Work garter stitch with {SGS} on each end for 63 rows (32 ridges including Short Row 5)."
