  • Pattern specs

    CONSTRUCTION

    • This vest is worked flat in one piece from the top down, beginning with the back shoulders. The shoulders are shaped using short rows, then the back is worked to the underarm. Stitches are picked up from the back for the front shoulders and each front is worked separately to the underarm, with no shoulder shaping. The back and fronts are then joined and the body is worked in one piece to the hem.
    • Neckband and button bands are worked at the same time as the garment body. A two-stitch knitted cord edging is worked along the garter stitch borders at armhole and neck edges. An Applied Knitted Cord edging is worked across the back neck stitches, then continued along the front neckband.
    • Designed for a cropped fit, body length can be worked to desired length (note that lengthening will require additional yardage).
    • The geometry of the upper fronts results in the shoulder line sitting at an angle toward the back, drawing in the back armholes to create an indentation on the back armhole area; see Schematic for dimensions.
    • While a relatively simple piece, the short-row shaping integrated with the stitch pattern’s cabling is what gives this pattern a higher skill level.
