Pattern Specs

CONSTRUCTION

  • Cardigan is worked bottom up, separating at underarms to work fronts and back separately.
  • Shoulders are joined using a Joinery Bind Off.
  • Stitches are picked up around the armhole for working top-down sleeves circularly. The sleeve cap is shaped using short rows.


FINISHED DIMENSIONS

  • 30¼ (33¼, 36¼, 39, 42, 44¾, 47¾, 50½)” finished (blocked) garment at chest
  • Sample shown is size 33¼” with +1¼” ease on model

GAUGE

Working and Finished Gauge:

  • 25 stitches & 27 rows= 4″ in Flying Wings Pattern on Size A needles
  • 20 stitches & 36 rows= 4″ in Seed Stitch on Size B needles
  • 19 stitches & 32 rows= 4″ in Seed Stitch on Size C needles


NEEDLES

Size A (for Bodice and Hood):

  • One 32 or 40” circular needle in size needed to obtain gauge listed
  • Suggested Size: 5 mm (US 8)


Size B (for Lower Body):

  • One 32 or 40″ circular needle in size needed to obtain gauge listed
  • Suggested Size: 4 mm (US 6)


Size C (for Sleeves and Ribbing):

  • One 32 or 40” and one 16” circular needle and one set of DPNs (optional – if you prefer working magic loop on sleeves then you will not need the DPNs) in size needed to obtain gauge listed
  • Suggested Size: 4½ mm (US 7)

10 May 2013: Versions 5.1

 Page 8 under SLEEVES, a small clarification was made to Short Row 2, which now reads:

Short Row 2 (WS): Work in Seed Stitch in the Round according to Round 2 (see Stitch Patterns) to 8 stitches past shoulder marker, wrap and turn;” 


25 April 2013: Version 5.0

 On page 5, under BODY and after the CO, the “Work Hem” rows have been corrected to read: 

Row 1 (WS): Purl 2, knit 1, [purl 1, knit 1] to last 2 stitches, knit 2. Row 2 (RS): Knit 2, purl 1, [knit 1, purl 1] to last 2 stitches, purl 2.

Page 8, first paragraph under SLEEVES, the third group of picked up stitches has been corrected to read:
