Pattern Specs
CONSTRUCTION
- Body is worked in the round to underarms, then divided for fronts and back, which are worked flat to the shoulder. The sleeves are worked in the round to the underarm, and the caps are completed flat. The collar is picked up and knit from the body after the shoulders are sewn together.
- The ribbing is worked on a smaller needle with a single strand of yarn; the main fabric is worked with a larger needle and two strands of yarn held together.
FINISHED DIMENSIONS
- 25 (26¼, 27½, 30¼, 33)” circumference at chest Sized for 2 (4, 6, 8, 10) years
- Sample shown is size 6 (27½”) on child who normally wears size 6
- Shown in second and fourth photos on child who normally wears size 5

GAUGE
- 18 stitches & 30 rows/rounds = 4″ in stockinette stitch with Size A needle(s) and 2 strands of yarn held together, after blocking
- 37 stitches & 50 rows/rounds = 4″ in 2×2 Ribbing with Size B needle(s) and 1 strand of yarn, after blocking
NEEDLES
Size A (for Main Fabric):
- One 24″ circular needle and one set of DPNs* in size needed to obtain stockinette stitch gauge listed
- Suggested Size: 5 mm (US 8)
Size B (for Ribbing and Tubular Cast On/Bind Off):
- One 24″ circular needle and one set of DPNs*, size needed to obtain ribbing gauge listed
- Suggested Size: 2¼ mm (US 1)
*32” circular needle can be used instead of DPNs if using the Magic Loop method for working small circumferences in the round (i.e. Sleeves)
