CONSTRUCTION
- This garment is knit from the top down with a unique construction beginning with architectural ribbed epaulets at the shoulders. R and L Epaulets are worked separately and joined together to form a foundation epaulet piece; the Front body and Back body are picked up separately and worked flat directly down from this piece to the knitter’s choice of Semi-Cropped, Classic, or Tall body lengths. After completion of the body, sleeves are picked up from the sides of the body and worked flat top-down to the knitter’s choice of Short, Half, or Long sleeve lengths. After the sleeves are completed, the garment resembles a “+” shape. Then the garment is folded in half (forming a “T” shape) and finished with two easy seams, one at each side of the garment.
- Working a garment top-down makes fit customization much easier for sleeve and body lengths: the garment can be loosely pinned together along the side and sleeve seams and tried on as it is being worked — allowing for sleeve and body lengths to be checked for fit before binding off.
- This garment’s construction allows for a mixing-and-matching of body and sleeve sizes to tailor fit; see Schematic for dimensions.
