CONSTRUCTION
- The pieces are worked flat from the bottom up in Quarry and sewn together. The pockets and facings are worked circularly in Shelter. Four circular needles are required to work the facing around the front, neck, and hem, because it is worked in one piece.
FINISHED DIMENSIONS
- 37½ (39¾, 42, 46½, 50, 54½, 58)” [95.5 (101, 106.5, 118, 127, 138.5, 147.5) cm] circumference at chest with fronts overlapping about 8″ [20.5 cm]
- Sample shown is size 39¾” [101 cm] with 6¾” [17 cm] ease on model
GAUGE
- 14 stitches & 22 rows = 4″ in reverse stockinette stitch with Size A needle(s) and Quarry, after blocking
- 69-stitch back panel (four 15-stitch cables separated by three purl-3 columns) measures 13″ wide with Size A needle(s) and Quarry, after blocking
- 51-stitch front or sleeve panel (three 15-stitch cables separated by two purl-3 columns) measures 9½” wide with Size A needle(s) and Quarry, after blocking
- 18 stitches & 30 rows = 4″ in stockinette stitch with Size B needle(s) and Shelter, after blocking
NEEDLES
Size A (for Main Fabric in Quarry)
- One pair of straight needles or a 32″ circular needle* in size needed to obtain gauge listed
- Suggested Size: 6½ mm (US 10½)
Size B (for Facings and Pockets in Shelter)
- Four 40″ circular needles and one set of DPNs†, three sizes smaller than Size A
- Suggested Size: 5 mm (US 8)
*Knitter’s preferred style of needle may be used
†40” circular needle can be used instead of DPNs if using the Magic Loop method for working small circumferences in the round (e.g., Pockets).
