Pattern Specs
CONSTRUCTION
- The main portion of this hat is knit sidways in Garter Stitch. Crown shaping is worked throughout by way of Short Rows on one side of your fabric.
- After main body of hat is complete, you will graft your last row of live stitches to your provisional cast on.
GAUGE
- 4.5 stitches & 9 rows = 1″ in Garter Stitch with Gauge Needle
NEEDLES
- One 16″ circular (or pair of straight) needle in size needed to obtain gauge listed above
- One 16″ circular needle one size smaller than Gauge Needle
- Suggested sizes: US 8/5 mm & US 7/4.5 mm
FINISHED DIMENSIONS
- 18.75 (20)” circumference, unstretched; 7.5 (8)” tall
Measurements given with fabric relaxed after blocking. Garter stitch fabric has good elasticity for fitting various head sizes.

Note: Three skeins of Shelter are enough to make 3 hats, switching MC, SC, and BC.
