Product description

This cozy garter stitch hat is a fun and quick knit that is great for using leftover scraps from various worsted weight wools. There are endless options for sideways striping – we encourage you to try your own version! The hat, which is written for two sizes, is worked sideways and shaped using short rows. The brim, which is worked last, is picked up from the “hat body” and knit in the round.

  • Pattern specs

    CONSTRUCTION

    • The main portion of this hat is knit sidways in Garter Stitch. Crown shaping is worked throughout by way of Short Rows on one side of your fabric.
    • After main body of hat is complete, you will graft your last row of live stitches to your provisional cast on.

    GAUGE

    • 4.5 stitches & 9 rows = 1″ in Garter Stitch with Gauge Needle

    NEEDLES

    • One 16″ circular (or pair of straight) needle in size needed to obtain gauge listed above
    • One 16″ circular needle one size smaller than Gauge Needle
    • Suggested sizes: US 8/5 mm & US 7/4.5 mm

    FINISHED DIMENSIONS

    • 18.75 (20)” circumference, unstretched; 7.5 (8)” tall
