Product description

“This half-circle shawl is knitted in one piece from the top down, composed of Moon and Stars. The double garter stitch Moon motif is achieved by using the double-point sliding technique alternating Strand A and Strand B, knit every row. The double garter stitch makes the fabric light, soft and puffy. The first Stars motif is a 5-into-5 lace stitch, and the second Stars motif is 5-into-3 lace stitch. The shawl is finished with double garter stitch edging to echo the Moon motif.” − Shui Kuen Kozinski

    CONSTRUCTION

    • Shawl is worked flat from the center top to the bottom edge.
    • The Moon Motif and the Edging are worked alternately with Strand A (from ball A) and Strand B (from ball B), using the double-pointed sliding technique. This technique is worked by sliding the stitches to the opposite end of the circular needle, so that two WS or RS rows can be worked in a row.

    • One 24″ long circular needle in size needle to obtain double garter stitch gauge
    • Suggested Size: 3¾ mm (US 5)

    Size B (for Lace):

    • One 32″ long circular needle two sizes larger than Size A needle
    • Suggested Size: 4½ mm (US 7)

Optional (if using this option, separate Size B needle may be omitted):

    • One 32″ long circular needle with interchangeable tips, with one Size A (3¾ mm/US 5) and one Size B (4½ mm/US 7) tip attached
