Product description

This hat design features Bavarian Twisted Stitch motifs (produced by knitting stitches through their back loops), which create a wonderful relief-like texture. The pattern is written for two versions: a fitted unisex beanie (shown in Barn Owl) or a stylish Tam version (shown in Truffle Hunt). Both versions use less than one skein of Loft, and make great gifts for those who love intricate patterning and texture. Follow the pattern for your chosen version, noting that both versions use the same Chart.

  • Pattern Updates

    5 April 2012:

    • The “tK2tog” symbol in the Chart Legend had an error; the corrected version was included on this update and now reads: “Slip 1 stitch purlwise to R needle, slip next stitch as if to knit (changing its orientation). Return both stitches to L needle in their current orientation. Knit these 2 stitches together.”
    • The Make-1 Purl definition was changed to a closed running thread increase (it was erroneously listed as an open running thread increase). The red section is the correction: make-1 purl by lifting the bar from the row below onto your L needle from back to front and purling it.

    30 October 2013: (Version 3.0):

On Page 4, under Shape Crown, the stitch count for the Tam version was missing.  Pattern has been updated to read: “Upon completion of Jaffrey Chart, you will have 12 (18) stitches remaining on your needle.”
