Look no further than the Gammans hat and cowl set when outfitting yourself for cool weather adventures. Show off your style with Arbor’s extensive palette; will your color story be retro, sophisticated, or laid-back? Both the modified moss stitch and slip stitch colorwork motifs come charted and written to suit a wide range of pattern reading preferences.

The Gammans hat can be knit in either a classic beanie or slouchy length version. The Gammans cowl can be knit as a short single loop or longer double wrap version.

Pattern Specs

CONSTRUCTION

  • The hats are worked circularly in the round from the bottom up.
  • The cowls are worked flat beginning with a Provisional Cast On, then the ends are joined using a Joinery Bind Off.


GAUGE

24 sts and 36 rows = 4” (10 cm) in Modified Moss Stitch with Size A needle(s), after blocking

Hat

Size A (for Main Fabric)

  • One 16" circular needle and one set of double-pointed needles (DPNs) in size needed to obtain gauge listed
  • Suggested Size: 3.75 mm (US 5)



Size B (for Ribbing)

  • One 16" circular needle in size needed to obtain gauge listed, two sizes smaller than Size A
  • Suggested Size: 3.25 mm (US 3)


Cowl

Size A (for Main Fabric)

  • One 32" circular needle in size needed to obtain gauge listed
  • Suggested Size: 3.75 mm (US 5)
