Fletching

Raglan Pullover with Shoulder Detailing
Skill Level: 4 of 5
Regular price $12.00
(PDF)

Distinctive side and shoulder details make this reverse stockinette pullover fly true. Narrow columns of crossed stitches travel up the sides and beneath the sleeves to flow into the raglan lines at the yoke, with tendrils of crossed stitches joining the confluence to form a striking pattern. Fletching is worked in Shelter from the single-ribbed hem and cuffs upward, entirely in the round and from written instructions only. Long lines and waist shaping make this pullover elegant as well as comfortable. Choose a homey hue like Faded Quilt or Woodsmoke (shown here) or go festive with an autumn bright like Long Johns or Embers.

Pattern Specs

CONSTRUCTION

  • The body and sleeves are worked circularly and joined at the underarms, then the yoke is worked in the round. While shaping the neck, the yoke is worked back and forth. The collar is picked up and worked in the round after the garment is blocked.

FINISHED DIMENSIONS

  • 35½ (39½, 43½, 47½, 51½, 55½)” circumference at chest
  • Sample shown is size 39½ with + 5½” ease on the model

Need help picking a size? See our resource page on Selecting a Sweater Size 101.

GAUGE

  • 20 stitches & 30 rounds = 4″ in reverse stockinette stitch with Size A needle(s), after blocking

Note: Correct length of the one-piece yoke is dependent upon achieving the stated round gauge.

NEEDLES

Size A (for Main Fabric)

  • One each 16″, 24″ and 32″ circular needles and one set of double-pointed needles (DPNs) in size needed to obtain gauge listed
  • Suggested Size: 4½ mm (US 7)

Size B (for Ribbing)

  • One each 16″ and 32″ circular needles and one set of double-pointed needles (DPNs) two sizes smaller than Size A
  • Suggested Size: 3¾ mm (US 5)

Size C (optional, for Tubular Cast On only)

  • One 32″ circular needle and one set of double-pointed needles (DPNs), on size smaller than Size B
  • Suggested Size: 3½ mm (US 4)

32″ circular needle can be used instead of DPNs if using the Magic Loop Method for working small circumferences in the round (i.e., Sleeves).

Note: If you have adjusted the needle size to obtain the correct gauge, it may or may not be necessary to make a matching adjustment to the needle size used for Tubular Cast On due to variance in individual work. You may with to test your chosen cast-on method on your swatch.
