Fawn and Fox Hats

CONSTRUCTION

• Two versions are included: Fawn with horns and curved ears, and Fox with flat, tipped ears.
• The Fawn and Fox hats share the same base hat pattern. The hat is worked bottom-up in the round. Decorative ribbing mimics the details on the Fawn & Fox Toys' clothing, and adds a textural interest to the hat. Ears and horns are knitted top-down, in the round, and sewn to the hat. Duplicate stitch embroidery is used to highlight the inner ear.

• Finished Circumference: 15 (16, 17)" [38 (40.5, 43) cm]
• Length: 6½ (6¾, 7¼)" [16.5 (17, 18.5) cm]
• Brim Depth (all sizes): 2" [5 cm]
• Ear Width (all sizes): 2½" [6.5 cm]
• Ear Height (all sizes): 2½" [6.5 cm]

GAUGE

• 24 stitches & 33 rounds = 4"/10 cm in circular stockinette stitch, after blocking

YARN

Brooklyn Tweed Arbor — 100% American Targhee Wool (145 yards/132 meters per 50 grams)

• 1 (1, 2) skeins of Main Color (MC) for body of hat
• 1 skein of C1 for duplicate stitch on inner ear and horns (Fawn version only)
• Fox Version Only: 1 skein of C2 for ears
• Fawn Version photographed in Burnished (MC) and Degas (C1) in size Small
• Fox Version photographed in Butte (MC), Hammock (C1), and Kettle (C2) in size Small

YARDAGE

• MC: 130 (140, 160) yards [119 (128, 146) meters]; C1: 25 yards [23 meters]; C2: 15 yards [13 meters]; of DK weight wool yarn

NEEDLES

16"/40 cm circular needle and one set of 5 double-pointed needles (DPNs) in size needed to obtain gauge listed.
