Partner to the Burnaby hat, this timeless triangle of cozy cables and textured stitches is a satisfying knit. Worked from the trailing edge upward, the shawl will seem to go faster and faster, and straightforward design makes it a good project to knit with company or while settled in with a favorite movie. Wide bands of garter stitch, simple cables, and seeded tree forms inspired by fishermen’s ganseys look sophisticated in a neutral tinged with color like Gale (shown), Thaw, or Morandi.

CONSTRUCTION

  • The shawl is worked from the bottom up, beginning with the garter stitch border and worked towards the center top.


GAUGE

  • 23 stitches & 37 rows = 4″ in pattern from Chart A, after blocking


NEEDLES

  • One 32″ circular needle and two double-pointed needles (DPNs) in size needed to obtain gauge listed
  • Suggested Size: 4mm (US 6)


FINISHED DIMENSIONS

  • 48½” [123 cm] wingspan; 24¼” [61.5 cm] deep at center spine
