Brooklyn Tweed Arbor Yarn Skeins in Colors Morandi, Nightfall and Potion
Alizarin: Crimson, a cooler and less impulsive red than Firebrush.
Arabesque: A sophisticated greyed mauve of middle value.
Black Fig: Warm blackened purple.
Butte: A foxy rust hue like iron-rich soils — leans redder in Peerie and more orange in Arbor.
Cobbler: A jammy reddish purple like blackberry pie.
Degas: Pale beige with a blush of pink, inspired by the naturally lit studios and tulle skirts of Edgar Degas’s famous ballerina paintings.
Dorado: The deep green of the ocean near forested shores.
Driftwood: Pale, weathered beige grey. Distinctly warm.
Fleet: Classic pea-coat navy. Darker in Peerie than it is in Arbor.
Hammock: Natural sheep’s white, warm and creamy.
Heron: A cool mid-grey like rain clouds.
Humpback: A complex dark grey faintly warmed with brown.
Kettle: Labrador black, pure and basic.
Klimt: The rich ochre gold of willow leaves in autumn. Inspired by the paintings of Gustav Klimt’s “golden phase.”
Lovat: The muted blue-green of an old Scottish tweed suit.
Mesa: The rosy pink of unfired terra cotta.
Norway: Sea ice. This palest blue is shaded with a wash of grey.
Porter: Faded black denim, a lived-in alternative to true black.
Rainier: A glacial, shaded, serene blue, named for Washington’s tallest peak.
Sashiko: Saturated natural indigo, inspired by Japanese textiles.
Thaw: Cool, silvery white.
Tincture: Grassy olive oil, greener and more vivid than Klimt.
Treehouse: A saturated spruce green that leans toward teal.
Vintner: The deep and lingering red of an Oregon pinot noir swirled in the glass.

    Fiber Characteristics

Targhee sheep from Montana and South Dakota provide their distinctively thick and heavy fleeces for Arbor. This American breed is a finewool, bearing the softness of its distant Merino ancestry, but with durability enhanced by additional longwool genetics. Targhee wool has an especially elastic quality that, when combined with worsted-spun construction, produces plush yet sturdy fabrics suitable for next-to-skin wear.

    Dye Process

Arbor is spun from undyed white wool, then skein dyed after spinning into a saturated palette of solid hues that let textured stitches and cables shine, create crisp colorwork, and highlight the natural luster of the wool fibers.

  • Gauges

Arbor’s springy worsted-spun construction is suitable for a wonderful range of gauges and can be used interchangeably with Dapple:

    • 5¼ – 6 stitches to 1"
    • Suggested Needle: 3.75 - 4.5 mm (US 5-7)
    • Suggested Hook: 4.5 - 5.5 mm (US 7 - I-9)
  • Care

Arbor is a handcrafted product. For best results, we recommend alternating skeins when joining in a new skein for even color distribution.

    Wet-Blocking

    1. Fill a sink or basin with cold water.
    2. Submerge the fabric in water, gently squeezing out any air bubbles so that the piece can remain under water without being held there.
    3. Soak work for 15 minutes, allowing fabric to become completely saturated.
    4. Remove excess moisture by rolling your fabric between clean, dry towels with light pressure.
    5. Lay fabric flat and shape to air dry.
