Pattern Specs

CONSTRUCTION

  • The shawl is worked from the center out, beginning with a Circular Cast On. It uses traditional Pi Shawl construction (Elizabeth Zimmermann’s method) and is shaped through the use of concentric rings of increases. A few stitches are decreased after the Pi Increase Round if necessary to achieve the correct stitch multiple for the following chart; otherwise, no stitches are increased or decreased between the concentric rings of increases. A knitted-on edging is worked back and forth and attached to the live stitches around the shawl circumference at the end of every RS row to finish the shawl (in place of a traditional bind off).

Errata

28 January 2016: Version 1.1

On page 10, Chart B, Round 25 has been revised to:

Knit 2, [YO, SSK] twice, knit 1, [k2tog, YO] twice, knit 1.

(FYI, version 1.0 of the pattern can be knit as charted. This v1.1 revision removes the issue of having two yarn overs next to one another at the end of round 24 and the beginning of round 25 on Chart B.)
