• Product description

  This luxurious wrap is a versatile style item – wearable in many fashions, it can easily be dressed up or down. The wrap is worked in three separate pieces – the heavily cabled center piece and two mirroring ‘wings’ worked in Reverse Stockinette Stitch with a built-in ribbed collar. This design utilizes the lofty nature of Shelter for a dramatic accessory that is warm while remaining light, cosy & easy to wear.

  • 11 skeins of Brooklyn Tweed Shelter (100% American Targhee-Columbia wool; 140 yards/50g)

• Pattern specs

  CONSTRUCTION

  • Wrap is worked in 3 pieces and seamed together.
  • Back piece begins at neck edge and is worked towards waist, increasing at either side at regular intervals to shape piece. Short rows are worked at the end of piece to create a rounded edge.
  • Wing pieces are mirror images of one another, with the exception of the ribbed neck band which is worked on Left Wing only and seamed to the Back piece during finishing.

  
  

  GAUGE

  • 20 sts & 24 rows = 4″ in stockinette stitch with Size A needle, after blocking
  • 30 sts & 28 rows = 4″ over Back Cable Pattern with Size A needle, after blocking

  
  

  NEEDLES

  Size A needle (for Main Fabric):

  • One 32″ circular needle in size needed to obtain listed gauges
  • Suggested Size: 4.5 mm (US 7)

  
  

  Size B needle (for Ribbing):

  • One 32″ circular needle one size smaller than Size A
  • Suggested sizes: 4 mm (US 6)

  27 February 2012: 

  Left Front said to cast on with smaller needle, but never instructed where to return to Gauge Needle. After completion of neck band, we have added the following sentence before casting on for the main portion of Left Front: 

  Repeat the last two rows until ribbed band measures 12″ from cast-on edge. Work the last row of the ribbed band onto your Gauge Needle (sugg. US 7/4.5 mm); you will finish the rest of Left Front on this needle.

  Cables on Row 17 of Chart B2 and C2 has been corrected to be a 4 stitch, rather than a 3 stitch cross.

  
  

  12 August 2011:

  Back Panel Instructions on Page 3 were modified and Back Panel Chart numbers were edited to accommodate written instruction changes. 

  Page 4 last paragraph, Right Front section: 

  Repeat the last two rows once, then repeat Row 1 once more, establishing Reverse Stockinette with ribbed band along edge. You will have worked a total of 5 rows from cast-on edge. 

  Also, a helpful note was added to the Blueprint page under the Gauge heading: 

  Note: Row gauge is important to match in this pattern so that cast-on edge of Left and Right Fronts will align properly with Back Panel during seaming.
