Growing Goodness

Looking for good news? We’ve got it right here – and YOU made it happen!
Your amazing response to our Apart Together aid initiative in November enabled us to donate over $9500 to Portland’s Rose Haven day shelter & community center for women, children & people of marginalized genders. They recently sent a heartfelt letter that we wanted to share with you all!
Dear Brooklyn Tweed,
Thank you so much for your gift of $9556.45 on 12/18/2024. Your generous support and commitment to Rose Haven mean more to us than words can express. We are incredibly grateful for your partnership in this important work!
As we mark our 27th year of service, our existence is more crucial than ever. Rose Haven served 4,152 unique guests in 2023, including 800 children and 1,406 people who were brand new to our agency. While numbers don't encapsulate the importance of this work, they do indicate a deep need for support and safety.
An average of 150 women, children, and people marginalized by their gender access our shelter each day seeking basic need support including meals, restrooms, showers, supplies, laundry services and more. By providing consistent and loving support, we position people to heal all aspects of their lives. There is a palpable impact when our guests are treated with respect and care; they begin to have hope, open up and see new pathways on their journeys.
At Rose Haven we uphold dignity and create community and lasting relationships for people who often feel invisible. Each year, thousands of guests participate in our other holistic services including mental health support, resource navigation, financial assistance, recovery support, medical help, and education; moving from basic survival mode to empowerment.
Thank you for being an important part of our community. We welcome you anytime for a coffee or tour and would love to show you the impact of your gift firsthand.
Gratefully,
Katie O'Brien, Executive Director
(Thank you with all our hearts!)
