Celebrating Our Journey: Brooklyn Tweed’s Next Chapter

Dear Friends,
We're reaching out today with important news—and hearts filled with gratitude.
Beginning in June 2025, Brooklyn Tweed will return to its roots as a pattern-only design company, transitioning out of yarn manufacturing. This decision was not easy, nor driven by any lack of viability: BT yarns remain beloved and vibrant, thanks to your incredible support.
Instead, we're following our personal creative paths, seeking space to explore new ideas while honoring the spirit of what we've built together over the past 20 years.
This change marks not an ending, but the next step in our ongoing journey. We're eager to learn, grow, and explore new creative avenues. Soon, we'll launch an updated website showcasing our extensive library of over 800 original patterns—an inspiring platform for both past and future projects. Our celebrated designs will continue to be available, and we look forward to sharing even more creative work with you in the years to come.
We're not going anywhere—this is simply the start of a new chapter.
Producing yarn in the U.S. has been profoundly rewarding and challenging. We've been incredibly fortunate to pursue our passion for quality and craftsmanship, thanks entirely to your support. Together, we've cultivated a community centered around beautiful American wool, thoughtful design, and the timeless art of knitting. Each skein and pattern we’ve created reflects our dedication to care, creativity, and purpose.
The final months of Brooklyn Tweed yarn production will be a celebration, honoring the yarns that have accompanied your creative journey. Starting today, April 18, all remaining skeins of Brooklyn Tweed yarn are available in our online store—if there's something you've had your eye on, now's the moment. At the end of this month, we'll launch a Farewell Sale featuring all remaining skeins from our final production runs, continuing through June or while our supply lasts. This gives you ample time to complete your projects, stock your collections, and cherish these final yards.
Our commitment to providing meticulously crafted, inspiring patterns remains stronger than ever. Brooklyn Tweed will continue to offer the exceptional quality and innovative design you’ve come to expect. Raising the standard for knitters everywhere has always been—and will remain—central to our mission.
We understand this news may feel bittersweet. Like all beautiful experiences, this chapter is fleeting, but the spirit of BT endures.
On behalf of our entire team, thank you for your trust, creativity, and unwavering support. You, our cherished knitting community, are truly the heart and soul of Brooklyn Tweed.
Join us in celebrating these remarkable yarns—collect, create, and treasure this moment. We look forward to continuing our shared journey with you. Keep in touch, and we’ll do the same!
With deepest gratitude,

Bittersweet news indeed. Some of my best knits have been
ones that used your patterns with your yarns. I hope this will an opportunity to celebrate other local suppliers so that we can continue to support the farmers and mills who have been such an important part of Brooklyn Tweed!

I am so very sorry that you will not be creating your beautiful yarns. They are my go to for every project that I work on. I will dearly miss your yarns. But on the bright side I have so many of your beautiful patterns and look forward to seeing your new creations.

Jared, I found you through your blog way back when you posted about a Noro striped scarf. That was one of my first projects and I still love it to this day. Cobblestone was my first attempt at a sweater. Shelter is my absolute most beloved yarn and I’m so sorry to see it go. Thank you for all you’ve done and continue to do for the knitting community.

Dear Jared and Luigi, I discovered Brooklyn Tweed by accident, in “Purl Soho”, while I was mourning the death of my mother, and the act of knitting helped me greatly to calm myself, – I don’t think I’d ever start knitting if I didn’t see your yarn in the shop, and got so inspired I felt I simply MUST create something with it. It was the Quarry, Serpentine colorway, and I still have the scarf I made from it. Thank you for making the best, the most luscious, mysterious, beautiful, rich yarn I ever used.

I began my knitting journey with a gift received from a friend of some beautiful Japanese wooden needles and a skein of Shelter. For me BT yarn has been the core, I used others but your yarn in unrivalled. Shelter remains my favourite yarn and I will so miss it.
Best of luck on your journey, this fella in Oz is a bit sad!!!
