HEADERS_wp9_take_5_johnstone What’s your favorite detail about your WP9 design contribution? My very favourite detail of Element is that fabulous cowl neck with the drawstring. Super pleased to have an opportunity to use that long-sketched detail. Any interesting techniques in the design you'd like to tell knitters about? This design’s simple appearance belies the knitting techniques behind it. This is one of those designs ‘with the lot’: crochet provisional cast-on, working in the round, lacework, short row shaping, A-line shaping, Kitchener grafting, armhole seaming, collar, lifeline, eyelets, a folded hem for the casing, and all neatly finessed with an I-cord drawstring. It’s a master class in knitting a beautifully tailored sweater! FLATS_wp9_take_5_11 What's the most beloved (and well-worn) hand knit in your closet? I actually have a few, depending on the season! Scarpa, Sankai and Holl are on regular rotation in winter. Otaki is my all-time favourite hat design; I adore the slouchy style with the elegant stitchwork. Zenmon or Shinju are frequently slung about my neck. In the warmer months, you will find me in either Amime or any one of my cardigans: Aperture, Raiun or Kyuu. Ahem. I really do design for my own wardrobe. Three things that are inspiring you right now? I am neck deep in my own home renovations at the moment so amidst the concrete dust and the chaos, I’m finding inspiration in beautiful locally made light fixtures (http://tongueandgroove.publishpath.com/colin-hopkins and http://tongueandgroove.publishpath.com/ross-didier), natural textures (hello, 100% pure wool carpet, timber ceilings and raw concrete) and wonderful friends who generously provide meals and respite.

  • Hello, I bought the model Dresden Vest and I really made a very big effort and still, I can not make the vest because I think it is very difficult to understand the instructions.
