Staff Favorites of 2015: Accessories

What a year it’s been for Brooklyn Tweed! A cross-country move, new team members, a new yarn, new print books… As we settle in with plenty of wool and tea to weather a week of chilly rain, it seems like the perfect time to look back on some of our favorite things from 2015. We asked the BT staff to vote on their favorite accessories from BT Winter 15, Wool People 9, BT Men 2, BT Fall 15, and of course Olga’s new Capsule Collection, and we’ve been counting down our staff picks on social media all week. Introducing CAPSULE

Today we’re proud to raise the curtain on our very first printed knitting book — the first installment in a project we call CAPSULE. This new series gives a single designer the stage to present a whole fashion story told in Brooklyn Tweed wool. Our house team polishes the patterns and Jared photographs the garments, but the most exciting part of all is that each CAPSULE collection is offered as a high-quality bound book. Her garments and accessories...

Introducing BT Winter 15

Welcome to deep winter. Most of us need little prompting to pick up the needles at this time of year—the low temperatures are reason enough to layer on our woolens and hustle to knit more. But if you need an infusion of beauty and color, a quick vacation from your home landscape, we’re proud to offer the BT Winter 15 collection today. These designs pay tribute to New York City, but not in the ways you might expect—one fashion story features garments inspired by the style of Diane Keaton’s title character in the 1977 film “Annie Hall;” the other grew...

Wool People 8

Dear Knitters, Welcome to late fall! We’ve had some glorious autumn days here on the east coast, with blue skies and red-gold leaves. My local farmers' market has been bursting with crimson apples, dark leafy greens, and truckloads of colorful winter squash. But let’s face it, the season when we’ll have to start making our own color is at hand! Thank goodness for yarn. I never feel ready to let go of these brilliant fall hues as late autumn sets in, and color selection for my own knitting usually reflects that (earlier this week I cast on for a new...

Amirisu 4

Amirisu released their fourth issue last week, which highlights Brooklyn Tweed as the magazine's featured brand. We had a lot of fun working with Amirisu, contributing both design and written content throughout the issue. If you aren't familiar with this online publication, it is the passion project of a Tokyo-based knitting/editing duo whose shared goal is furthering the online knitting culture in Japan. The magazine's content is presented in both Japanese and English. . . Last Fall, editor Meri Tanaka interviewed me about US-yarn production and my history as a designer. Within the article I talk a bit about how...
